Technical Writer

Job description
As a key member of Borland’s information-development staff, you will work directly with software developers to obtain product information, create documentation plans, and write conceptual, procedural, and reference material for online help systems and PDF manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Create documentation deliverables that include user and administrator information as well as application-developers’ reference books.
  • Develop a documentation plan for releases and schedule information -development efforts to meet product-release schedules.
  • Coordinate with development teams, the translation team, and Information Development Services.
  • Interview team members and other product experts to obtain product and installation information.
  • Work in Agile-development environment to develop applications.

Qualifications

  • Excellent English writing and communication skills. Must also be fluent in German.
  • Experience with FrameMaker is required.
  • Experience authoring and publishing information deliverables with XML tools such as XMetal or Arbortext Editor and related technologies is a plus. Experience with RoboHelp is also a plus.
  • Position requires a self-starter who works with minimal oversight, exhibits grace under pressure, shows flexibility, and has excellent problem-solving and follow through skills.
  • High level of personal integrity and the ability to excel in a team environment.
  • Extremely self-motivated individual with strong work ethic.
  • B.A. in English, Technical Communication, or related field or B.S. in Computer Science or a technical discipline. Demonstration of professional experience and accomplishments equivalent to a formal educational background can substitute.
